The ESL Program is offered to students determined to be limited English proficient based on an initial screening test and/or statewide testing each spring. Parents have indicated that another language is spoken in the home, and we tested the student to determine if they are fully proficient in academic English.
Once a student is identified as needing English as a Second Language (ESL) support, we decide which level of support is appropriate for each student based on his or her individual needs. Our goal is for students to be successful in their academic work in the classroom.
Students may receive comprehensive, moderate or transitional ESL support to access the curriculum and
to develop their English proficiency in all language domains: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
